What makes for a simple face?

*warning to my male readers this is a particularly girly entry*

I know how dudes love love love to say how they don’t like women to wear makeup. Or how some women say, they really don’t need it because they have natural beauty.  And while all this is fabulous and true on some ole india arie love yaself steez, makeup is not a cure all but a useful enhancer.

It’s not every day that i wear makeup but when i do wear it, I wear it for different effects.  Say I want a dewy summer time look..Now we know everyones skin is not dewy, so we need something that will enhance it.  Anyone that says their skin looks drewy and dreamy naturally, I’ll call them a liar.

In the course of our lives I’m sure most of my female readers have been faced with, ‘to make up or not to make up?’ While you may not be a huge fan, I think every woman should be able to put on a lil face.  A face that says I’m fresh, wide eyed but this is effortless.  No, a lil lipglass/gloss does not achieve this.  A smatter of gloss says to me, “I’m a newbie when it comes to makeup, so lemme just throw this on my lips..i’m still cute tho, hayyyy.”  I also find those folks who only use lipgloss are the main chica’s screaming about another chicks “excessive use” of makeup; when in actuality the only reason it seems excessive is because you have no idea what you’re doing.

This entry is simply my top 6 must have items for a everyday face.  To me an everyday face is something that can transcend from day to night.  It can be worn from brunch to happy hour, at work to a night out with the girls.

6. MAC Studio Stick Foundation(NW45)- 29.00

I know, I know…”I don’t really use foundation.” Neither do I but I’ll be damned if it’s not a good on the spot concealer for my blemishes when I have them.  I usually dab a lil of this on those dark patches on my face, blend it in till i can’t see the spot and once it over with the next item.

5. Black Radiance Perfect Tone Loose Powder(8113 Dark tone) – 4.99

Once I have my spots covered i’ll once my whole face over with some of this.  It’s a loose powder and all it really does is set your face.  How simple and easy?  This step usually only last me about 2 mins or even less.  Loose Powder tends to only come in colors like: light, meduim, deep and dark deep (sometimes).  I tend to apply this with a blush brush or some big brush for a even application.

4. MAC Blush in Fleur Power(left)/ Or MAC’s Petticoat Mineralizer (right)- 18.00

Ladies!  I don’t care what you say, if you smile alot and have nice cheek bones a  lil pop never hurt anyone.  Both of these work for me and make my smile and cheeks dance.  The Mineralizer i  apply on my temples in the summer for a pinkybronzy shimmer.  The Fleur Power gives me the right splash on my cheeks.  I also find that when a browner girl does things with makeup other than lips and eyes, it makes others take notice and they’ll think; maybe just maybe i can do a blush too.  Please do!

3. MAC Eye Kohl Pencil in Smolder- 14.50

Even makeup noobs(newbies) know that a good kohl pencil will save you a few steps.  We as women all wanna try a smokey eye in our life time or even give a lil drama to your eyes.  This pencil wears wonderfully, it goes on sharp and eventually kinda smolders down and smudges on it’s own.  Not saying you cant smudge it..but i love that it naturally distributes, giving my eye the perfect frame.

2. Imju Fiber Wig Mascara- 22.00

Praise the high heavens for this one!  Sometimes as ladies we all wanna serve a lil eye, so we add a lil false lash to the mix.  No need to anymore! Imju has a wonderful technology that all these lash boosting mascara’s doesnt…it’s in the fiber!  With this mascara the more you put on the longer your lashes will be,   in addition it also defines every lash. No messy buildup!

1. Covergirl Trushine in Bronzed Shine/L’Oreal Color Juice Stick in Guava Glaze- 6.29 and 4.49/6.00

The good thing I love love love about L’Oreal and Cover Girl is that they always have a buy 1 get, get 1 free or half off deal.  I believe a lip should always look natural.  Since my lips are naturally brownish in tint I always put a lil pink on them to make them look a bit flushed.  These 2 together give me the perfect pout.

I guess you could say this is kind of my signature look.  Simple!

I hoped this helped :)
