Synthesize me…

I went on a brief sabbatical this weekend. With a very up and down week, all i wanted to do was trip out, hang out and chill pool side with some of my people. This morning as I played wii bowling, I loaded up my ipod to their stereo system. I selected Zo! and Tigallo love the 80’s ( http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=248812433 ). For anyone that doesn’t know about this project Tigallo=Phonte of the group Little Brother and Zo! is a DC based producer and musician..they came together and remade and reworked a collection of 80’s song, such as Africa, Take on Me and I’m only human to name a few. As I listened to Take on Me, I thought about the 80’s and how it was fueled with pop synthesizer. I also thought about how a song was not the shit till it broke out with that good synthesizer riff or solo. It got me further thinking about how the synthesizer was frowned upon in music during a certain time period. I’ll be the first to admit I LOVES ME A SONG WITH A SYNTHESIZER ON IT. So much so I have a few playlists on my ipod dedicated to my love of 80’s music and any music with synths on it.

Recently alot of the song being played on the radio have that 80’s feel and makes me laugh because so called musical purist are talking down about it. But these were the same bammas that was rocking to Aha!

All I have to say to that is Synthesize Me! I don’t know what it is about the use of it, but it instantly makes me feel upbeat and wanna spaz to some music. :)

Update: Sha’s Do Hickey is still alive and well the headphones are now back on as well. I tinkered with the headphones and viola we’reeeeeeeeeeeeeee back.
